Devi – All That I Need Music Video
Our first music video! Shot at my downtown Jersey City apartment and Keith's bar, Boca Grande, in one long-ass day. I blame the dress. Featuring: Debra Devi (guitar/vocals), John Hummel (drums), Keith Mannino (bass), Rob Clores (keys). Dir. Jill Morley, DP Evan Seplow, Asst Dir. Jason Jaworski
Plastik Santas for American Diabetes Association
Plastik Santas is the brainchild of NYC-area musician Rich Adams. Every year he pulls together a loose conglomeration of artists to collaborate on a holiday tune for charity. This year I played the guitar solo on “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town.” My friend Patrick Harmon from Brooklyn’s The Party Faithful added some supercool Beach Boys-style harmonies. All proceeds go to the American Diabetes Association, so please download!
Devi on Hypebot: We’re in the Tchochtke Biz
My Hypebot article about why Devi has decided to make our album available for free download kicked off quite the debate on music piracy. Got something to add?
Phil Sudo & Zen Guitar – Inspiring GET FREE
People have asked me why I called Devi’s album Get Free. Here’s the story.
One birthday a friend handed me a slim book titled Zen Guitar. The author’s name was Philip Toshio Sudo.
“That’s funny,” I thought, “I used to know a Phil Sudo.” I turned the book over and read that Sudo was a musician living in Maui with his wife and children. Couldn’t be the same guy. The Phil Sudo I knew was almost certainly still fidgeting miserably at his desk at American Banker newspaper.
That’s where I’d last seen him, back when I was a punk rock guitar player who freelanced for AB to pay for my East Village rathole. I’d traipse in to see the editor, ignoring the reporters snickering at my thrift-store dress and Doc Martens.
Rock and Roll Report’s “Triple R Girl” – Who Me?
Psst…wanna see some cheesecake? That’s what my Dad calls any photo of me that is remotely salacious. As in “No more cheesecake, please!”
Don’t tell my Dad but I’m The Rock and Roll Report’s new Triple R Girl. According to the Rock and Roll Report, If you think this is a typical “babe of the month” thing you are sadly mistaken. The Triple R Girl celebrates some amazing women who exemplify rock and roll attitude.
As a former nerd (think high school debate team), I’m honored to be included.
