Devi – All That I Need Music Video
Our first music video! Shot at my downtown Jersey City apartment and Keith's bar, Boca Grande, in one long-ass day. I blame the dress. Featuring: Debra Devi (guitar/vocals), John Hummel (drums), Keith Mannino (bass), Rob Clores (keys). Dir. Jill Morley, DP Evan Seplow, Asst Dir. Jason Jaworski
‘Silent Night’ in the UK & JC
I’m so glad people are enjoying my cover of “Silent Night” – my favorite Christmas carol of all. It’s featured in BUST magazine‘s Holiday Shopping Showcase and is playing this week on both Mark Watkins Music Show on Blast1386 radio from Reading College UK and Jim Testa’s Rock and Roll Gas Station show.
“O Holy Night” is my super-close-second fave carol, and I loved how Chrissy Roberts and Roland Ramos gave it a gentle Caribbean groove during their lovely rendition yesterday at the 2nd Annual Grace Church Holiday Concert. Beautiful performances all around at the show from little Katja (angelic!), The Autobodies, Frank Ippolito, Found Wandering, Peter Moffitt, Amy Elise, Glen Coleman, Kate Kaiser, Teresa Blunda, Donald Gallagher, Mary, Carolyn Light, Dave Ace Case and more.
Devi Live @ Arlene’s Grocery – Dig It
Like guitar solos? You’ve come to the right place. Here’s the first video from our show at Arlene’s Grocery in NYC – a (very) extended version of “When It Comes Down.”
Many, many thanks to all you wonderful Devi fans who pledged to our Kickstarter campaign and raised the funds to mix the sound!
More huge thanks to Dave Bile for doing a brilliant job of shooting and editing, Dan Grennes for editing the audio tracks and Wayne Dorell for mixing them (also brilliantly) at The Pigeon Club.
Dig it!
Get Free Makes Lucid Culture’s “1000 Best Albums of All Times” List
If you want smart, literate and, yes, lucid, writing on music, look no further than Lucid Culture. And we’re not just saying that because Get Free was featured yesterday as #530 on the influential NYC blog’s 1000 Best Albums of All Time list. Or because Lucid Culture calls the album “a feast of good guitar and solid tunesmithing.”
Read the rest of the review here. And here’s a live review from Lucid Culture of one of our shows. Tell me that guy can’t write.
Guitar Freaks Challenge: “Love That Lasts”
OK my fellow Guitar Freaks – what tuning am I using on Love That Lasts from the Get Free album? I’ll give you a hint, it’s a favorite of Jimmy Page. And this photo of him makes me want to lick his neck.
Check out Perry Robinson’s clarinet intro and John Hummel’s insane drumming during my solo, around 2:20. John Hummel: bastard musical lovechild of Ginger Baker and John Bonham.
