ONESHEET

DEVI (pronounced “Davey”) is an exciting new rock band from Jersey City, led by singer/guitarist DEBRA DEVI, “a supersonic fret-burner who writes hauntingly memorable songs” (JamBase).

With brothers JOHN HUMMEL on drums and KEVIN HUMMEL on bass, she leads “a bad-ass power trio with looks, swagger, a sense of humor and blistering chops.” (Midwest Record) Kevin replaces bassist Dan Grennes who is out on the national tour for American Idiot.

The band’s debut album, GET FREE (True Nature Records/Redeye USA), has earned Debra comparisons to singers Sheryl Crow and PJ Harvey and guitarists Jimi Hendrix and George Harrison. She’s become a Fender Girl Rock Nation artist, and the first female guitarist to record for Guitar World’s Lick of the Day iPhone app.

Recently, Debra’s award-winning book, THE LANGUAGE OF THE BLUES, which includes a foreword by DR. JOHN, was released as an eBook by Guitar International.

DEVI is in pre-production for a new EP with former Paisley Park (Prince) engineer/producer Lisa Chamblee Hampton a.k.a. Lisa LaDriva, with plans in the works to record at Sylvia Massy’s RadioStar Studio in California.  Debra will also record a track for Lisa’s Making Music Herstory compilation album.
